21 of my FAVORITE home gear picks 🏡

Hello [FIRST NAME GOES HERE], from your friend Nick in Austin, Texas.

In this issue: 100 things that can improve your life, 48 real tasks that I've assigned to my virtual assistants last week, 21 things around my home that I love, 3 great songs that I've been listening to, plus some good quotes and an email from Elon Musk.

Why you’re getting this: I'm Nick Gray and this is my Friends Newsletter. I send this to people I’ve met recently, my contacts on LinkedIn, and friends I want to keep in touch with. You can un-subscríbe and I won’t be offended.

How to Use a Virtual Assistant: 48 Real Tasks

I recently hired two full-time virtual assistants… which is ironic because I don’t even have a job.

But! I love virtual assistants!! I can’t imagine NOT having one now.

A lot of my friends want to know how to use a virtual assistant.

They ask me: What do your assistants do all day? And what do YOU do all day?

Here’s a list of tasks that my virtual assistants did last week. You’ll see that a majority of the tasks are marketing- and website-related.

Elon Musk Email to All Employees

I thought this email was really fascinating. Elon Musk sent this to all Tesla employees on October 4, 2021:

"To avoid straining your eyes when you're continuously working, follow the 20-20-20 rule. After 20 minutes of work, look at something 20 feet away, then spend 20 years in the forest." — via @jacques_lakan

Years later, this Tweet below is still good and accurate 🤣

Testimonial About My Party Book

A woman in Washington, DC recently read the manuscript for my book about how to host a 2-Hour Cocktail Party. Then she hosted her own version of my party:

All these people work in politics or are politics-adjacent, so I gave them the black bar treatment for privacy just to be safe!

This is what she told me afterwards:

"I want to say a huge huge THANK YOU. Hosting the party was such a great experience, and as an avid how-to / self help reader it's incredibly rare to come across a book that works through your anxieties, makes a case and is actionable. The party that I hosted from your book was a big success. At some point or another each attendee pulled me aside to say how much they were enjoying themselves. I even had two of the most introverted folks there ask me if I could invite them to the next one because it was unlike anything they've gone to."

My book about exactly how to host an easy, simple cocktail party will help you build big relationships. It should be available for sale in late May 2022. It is currently going through the final design process with my publisher.

I will send you an email when it is ready for preorder! I AM SUPER EXCITED and haven't been this excited about something since the early, early days of Museum Hack.

The End

Thanks for reading my Friends Newsletter.

I really enjoyed writing these two new articles about the home gear list and the virtual assistant tasks. I hope they added some value for you!!! To give you new ideas for cool home gadgets, or to give you some tasks that maybe you can delegate.

Have a great week.
